The Brief
Originally conceived as my final project for a Fine Arts degree, Mi abuela decía is an illustrated children's book created to preserve traditional Spanish oral culture and bring it back into the classroom. Through research into traditional songs, sayings and stories, I developed an educational narrative aimed at children aged six and above.
The story follows Marta as she discovers the meanings behind the songs and sayings passed down by her grandmother. I developed the entire project independently, from research and concept to writing, illustration and editorial design.
The finished book received a 9.5/10 in my final degree assessment, with the examining panel praising its overall quality. Five physical copies were produced and tested with children as a first step towards exploring its potential as an educational resource.
